Yale Recruitment

Now that admissions decisions have been sent out by admissions offices, the tables have turned. It’s now time for the admissions office to recruit its admitted applicants so that they will choose to attend their university. At Yale, according to the “Yale Daily News,” “The admssions office will use phone calls, emails, mailings and even instant-messaging chats this month to provide its admits with a personalized account of Yale life as they decide where to matriculate. But, instead of attempting to convince prospective students to attend, officers said, they try to use the month of April to share information about the school and connect admittees with people at Yale.”

Of course they’re trying to convince prospective students to attend Yale. That’s why they’ll host Bulldog Days from April 13-15. Last year, 1,185 students signed up to attend Bulldog Days. All of these efforts are aimed at convincing admitted students to attend, to increase Yale’s yield so that the college’s “US News & World Report” ranking will be stronger for it. According to the “Yale Daily News,” “This year’s admitted students have been asked to complete a survey form in which they prioritize their interests, which the admissions office will use to match them with current students to host them for Bulldog Days or call them.”
